General questions

How fit do I need to be to go on one of your tours?
Most of our tours require only basic fitness with some short strolls proposed as part of the tour. Refer to each tour page for a more detailed itinerary and please contact us if you have any specific questions.
What is Oceania's policy on taking children?
We welcome children on most of our tours and offer a discounted rate in most cases. Please enquire with us directly to see if the tour is suitable for the ages of your children (aged 0-15 inclusive).
What should I pack in my bag?
We recommend that you take some comfortable walking shoes, comfortable weather-appropriate clothing plus a waterproof jacket, camera and bottle of water.
Do your tours operate on public holidays?
Yes, most of our tours operate on public holidays except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Our most popular tours run daily and the other small group tours have several departures each week. The schedules are listed on each tour page.
How far in advance should I book?
Many of our guests book their tour 2-3 months in advance as they are planning a trip from abroad. We can take last minute bookings so please contact us directly by calling 03 9458 4837 if there doesn’t appear to be any availability on our online portal.

Small group tours

Which vehicle will be allocated to my tour?
Vehicles to be used will depend on the group size. Our vehicles include SUV, people movers (7 and 8 seats) and mini-buses (12 seats).
Are entry fees included?
Yes, as per the specific inclusions listed on each tour page, these entry fees are included. There are also upgrade options available at the Penguin Parade for the Phillip Island Tours. Please review the different options on our tour pages and contact us if you need more information.
Are meals included for the small group tours?
Our small group tours do not include lunch. On the Great Ocean Road Tour, time is available in the town of Apollo Bay where you will discover a variety of options to buy lunch. On the Phillip Island Tour during Daylight saving months there is free time in the town of Cowes in Phillip Island before you go to see the penguins. In winter you can buy something to eat at the visitor centre when you arrive for your visit to the penguin parade.
Will you drop us back at our hotel after the tour?
For Phillip Island and Great Ocean Road hotel drop off (in below mentioned areas) is included. For guests staying outside these areas, drop off will be at Mercure (formerly Travelodge) Southbank. The City tour ends at Melbourne (Eureka) Skydeck. When booking Phillip Island tour on the same day as City Tour, pick up will be from Melbourne (Eureka) Skydeck at 1pm in winter and at 2pm during daylight saving months (1st Sunday in October to 1st Sunday in April).
Will you offload us to another tour company if not enough people book on our tour?
No, we never offload passengers. We guarantee our small group departures for a minimum of two passengers. If you are alone, you can also look at our private touring options.
What is the maximum number of passengers that I can expect on my tour?
There will be no more than 11 passengers on your tour unless you are arriving on a cruise ship and have booked a shore excursion.
Do you include hotel pick up on the small group tours?
Yes, Hotel pick up is available for hotels in CBD, Carlton, East Melbourne, Southbank and Docklands. For hotels outside these areas meeting point is at the entrance of Travelodge Southbank, 9 Riverside Quay, Southbank.

Foreign language tours

If I book a tour in a language other than English, can I be guaranteed that my tour will have a guide speaking my language (German, Italian, Spanish)?
If only a small number of Italian or Spanish people have booked on the tour, we may use a guide that speaks both Italian and Spanish. These tours are always a lot of fun and encourage lots of interesting interactions between passengers. For German tours, where there are 6 or more German-speaking passengers, we guarantee a guide that speaks German. For less than 6 people, a PDF is available to download from our website which provides an interpretation of the tour (Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island).  You will pay only the English-speaking rate.
Which languages do you run your tours in?
Our small group tours run in English, Italian, Spanish and German with live guides, with the exception of the half-day Yarra Valley tour which is available in English only. Private tours can be booked in any of the above languages plus also in Portuguese.

Online bookings
When booking online your credit card will be charged. Please read the cancellation policy before booking.
Personal belongings
Please make sure you have all your belongings at the end of the tour as it may not be possible to return to your hotel if you realise you have left something in the vehicle.
Please be ready to go from your hotel
For all tours that include hotel pick-up, please be ready to leave at least 5 minutes before your pick up time. As in any major city, traffic can be difficult and we request your help by being ready to go to avoid other guests waiting for their pick up. Some hotels are not accessible to vehicles, or in clear way areas where we can’t stop, in those cases, an alternative pick up place will be advised at a nearby hotel.

All the information we receive is private and confidential. In no case will it be shared with other people or companies. Please refer to our Privacy Policy.
Passenger Ages
ADULT: 16yo and above.  CHILD: 0 – 15yo. Please let us know the ages of your children/infants (child car seat is compulsory).
Oceania Tours & Safaris is not responsible for personal belongings lost, stolen or damaged during the tour. We reserve the right to modify or cancel a tour if the conditions don’t allow it to proceed. We will offer an alternative if possible. It is the responsibility of the passenger to ensure that we have the right information: date and time of airline, airport; date of tour with the correct code, age of passengers, etc. Please inform us of any changes as soon as they occur. In case of bad weather, helicopter, seaplane, hot air balloon and sailing cruise can be rescheduled or that portion refunded, land content can still be provided
Cancellation Policy
Day tours, Small group tours: 7 days 50% of total. 2 days 100% of total.

Overnight small group: 45 days 25% of total. 30 days 50% of total. 15 days 75% of total. 2 days 100% of total.

Failure to take up a tour/no show will incur a 100% cancellation fee.

Oceania Tours & Safaris is committed to a COVID Safe Australia and offers you the guarantee and assurance that we abide by and operate according to all Federal and State regulations at all times.  We practice physical distancing, as is reasonably practicable and good hygiene measures are in place for all our tours.  Be assured your safety is our number 1 priority and all vehicles are thoroughly cleaned frequently.  We provide anti bacterial hand sanitiser on every vehicle.  Face masks must be worn inside the vehicle. also available on request. If you have tested positive for COVID-19 a refund will be issued subject to proof of result. This will apply to he extended party when one in the group is a close contact as defined by the government.

Most tours can operate in English, German, Italian and Spanish.
Short Breaks special Termas and Conditions

Individual components such as meals, wine tasting sessions, accommodation are also subject to government regulations.  As such, if any of these components are under government shut down orders, we will seek alternative venues as required.  We reserve the right to amend the itinerary as necessary.  In this instance venues with the same star rating (or above) will be included wherever possible.
