Your tour will commence with a wander through the iconic lanes and arcades of the city centre, discovering where Melburnians escape the hustle and bustle and connect with fellow locals over a coffee. You will be guided through the buzzing Degraves Street and the local fashion hub of Flinders Lane before entering the more grungy Centre Place, a hot spot for local street art and tiny cafes. You will continue through to the Block Arcade, Melbourne’s finest arcade, modelled on Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. It’s then time to board a Melbourne tram with your guide along the opulent ‘Paris end’ of Collins Street until you arrive at Parliament House and Treasury Gardens at the edge of the city centre. You will walk past St Patrick’s Cathedral and some beautiful Victorian houses of East Melbourne before arriving in Fitzroy, Melbourne’s bohemian hub and home to an array of cafes, local designer fashion and unusual stores. We then arrive at the Royal Exhibition Buildings and the Melbourne Museum, our entry point to the leafy inner-city precinct of Carlton. We will wander through the Carlton gardens and towards the famous Lygon Street, Melbourne’s Little Italy where your guide will enlighten you with fascinating stories of the Italian immigration to Melbourne. It’s time to treat you to a coffee as we head to the Brunetti – a name synonymous with exquisite Italian cakes, pastries, hot chocolate and of course, espresso. You may like to spend some more time exploring this area or return to the city centre with your guide.
